How can I be sure that the measurement is correct?
Our measuring method is based on the IEC / DIN EN 80601-2-59:2017 standard and thus guarantees not only a thermal measurement accuracy of +/-0.3°C, but also a resolution of the face area of at least 240 x 180 pixels.
Which conditions must be given in order to achieve a reliable result?
Depending on the camera lens, the person must be standing frontally at a distance of 1-2m from the camera.
Is it possible to measure the temperature of several people at the same time?
No, with the necessary face resolution (see above) the infrared camera can only measure individuals.
Why is the temperature measured at the inner corners of the eyelid?
Early detection of elevated body temperatures (e.g. in the case of a slight fever) is only possible in a few regions of the face. The inner eyelid angles, just like the forehead, are among the areas of the face where body temperature can be measured most reliably.
How can errors be excluded during the measurement process?
On the one hand, we only use high-quality products for the FebriScan, which guarantee many years of error-free use. On the other hand, the FebriScan has numerous integrated self-test functions, which are continuously activated, so that the test system does not deliver unnoticed false measurement results during operation.
Why is a blackbody needed in addition to an infrared camera for measuring body temperature?
The FebriScan generates highly precise results and guarantees a measurement accuracy of ±0.1 °C. As a single infrared camera could not provide this accuracy, we have equipped our system with an additional blackbody, which is calibrated according to a standard of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and verifies the temperature information of the infrared camera as a temperature reference value.
Why is the price of the FebriScan slightly higher compared to other systems?
Systems that comply with the IEC 80601-2-59:2017 standard are more expensive than thermal test equipment that does not conform to the standard due to either too low resolution and/or measurement accuracy. However, the FebriScan also guarantees reliable statements about increased body temperatures of tested persons.
What about the quality of the products?
Automation Technology is one of the market leaders in the field of industrial image processing, partly because of its high quality standards. All components of the FebriScan are produced in Germany and even for the most part in-house at AT, so that neither technical defects nor a lot of maintenance work is to be expected.
How heat or cold resistant is the integrated smart infrared camera?
The IRSX series smart infrared camera is designed for a wide ambient temperature range of -20°C to 40°C. However, Elevated Body Temperature (EBT) should always be measured at room temperature (see standard).
How much technical know-how is needed to set up the FebriScan?
Anyone can set up the FebriScan. Automation Technology has designed the system especially according to a plug & play principle, so that the installation is very easy and uncomplicated.
