Thermography systems for the process control of continuous castings optimize not only the product quality but also the energy consumption of steelworks. Therefore, infrared cameras monitor the forming and cooling processes of continuous castings. The thermal images captured are transmitted to an evaluation software that analysis the heat flow by the image data and automatically initiates any adjustments which may be necessary. The thermography system ensures in that manner a uniform cooling that makes a key contribution to improving the quality of steel products.
